Sally Margaret Field (born November 6, ) [1] is an American actress. She has performed in movies, Broadway theater, and television, and made records of popular music. Sally Field, American actress known for playing firebrands and steely matriarchs. She gained fame for TV roles in Gidget (–66) and The Flying Nun (–70) before taking dramatic parts in the movies Sybil (), Norma Rae (), and Places in the Heart (). Sally attended Birmingham High School in Van Nuys.
